Deviantart is for artists with proper sorting and discovery, Tumblr has very poor sorting and discovery. Deviantart has some rules and "opt in" mature content filter, Tumblr has no rules and lots of "unrated" content that is often unflagged. Deviantart has nice comments, but Tumblr has no comments. Deviantart has a standardized website, but Tumblr has disorganized themes you will obsess over. Tumblr users intentionally flood their "dashboard" with non-art blogs and will probably see your art even less than on DA. Tumblr has less protection against art theft. Discovering new artists is easier on DA and the DA favorites system works well.
Yes, the temptation towards the shiny new Tumblr site may seem overwhelming, but there are reasons to stay on DA, and even to use DA instead of Tumblr. Don't get me wrong, I prefer twitter over DA's new status system, but Tumblr has serious disadvantages for use by artists.

Self Help For The Artist + Artist Resources
Want to get better at art? I can't do that for you, but if you pick some of these resources you'll be moving in the right direction. :)
Open links in a new tab with right click. :)
Quick Poses: http://quickposes.com/gestures/random <- Lots of reference images in an easy to consume format.
Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/ <- Pinterest is a social network for collecting reference images and making mood boards. It's got ads and certain images have low res problems, so let me know if you have a better social network/mood-board of choice. (Not Tumblr though, I don't like tumblr for mood boards.)
DA Resources Category: http://deviantart.
Art Use, Conditions, and Fairness
Q: Can I use your art for free, for non-commercial purposes?
A: That depends what on you want to do.
-Desktops BG: You MAY use it for desktop backgrounds, phone backgrounds, lock screens, screen savors, that sort of thing.
-Social Profiles: I would prefer it if you did NOT use my art for your social media profile pictures or other places for profile or channel art. However, if you do so anyway, please clearly link to my deviantart in your profile description or other clearly visible place wherever my art appears. (I may offer legit commissions or something for this eventually.)
-Social Sharing: You MAY share my art on other social medi
Thoughts on bulk study dumps?
So, it would be nice to just dump tons of study deviations on here potentially. There are a bunch of reasons I might want to do a lot of rougher digital studies, but when I make digital art I like to post it online to make it feel more real. (Still feeling ill, so bulk study dumps won't happen right away most likely, but I do really want to know.) Do you all have thoughts on dumping lots of studies on here? I've pretty much given up on becoming popular in any meaningful way on deviantart especially through trying to be popular, so I don't see a huge downside to this? More art posted can only mean more exposure, and the people who want quality
Health Update
The lump on my neck is apparently a cyst, not cancer! So it seems like I'm not dying. Maybe that extra miserable period was just a bad virus. I'm still pretty miserable and not able to do regular people stuff though. :(

Tumblr can be very effective in spreading word of a dA though. It's very easy to post art on both and on the Tumblr post include a link to your dA. That's what I do. It's very effective to use both in conjunction.
